Our Team
Dr. Carrie Friedewald
DVM/Owner
Dr. Friedewald is the owner and founder of Kennesaw Mountain Animal Hospital, where she has served the community since 2010. A third-generation Marietta native, she has been drawn to animals her entire life and built her career with that purpose in mind.
She attended Davidson College, where she played collegiate volleyball while double majoring in Biology and Psychology, before earning her veterinary degree from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 2002.
She founded Kennesaw Mountain Animal Hospital with a clear vision: to create a place where high-quality medicine and strong relationships go hand in hand. The practice quickly outgrew its original space, leading her to design and build the freestanding hospital it is today.
Her interests include cardiology, oncology, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and geriatrics. She is known for her consistency, clinical judgment, and the trust she has built with patients and their families.
She has trained in mindfulness through Brown University and continues working toward teaching mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR).
Dr. Friedewald lives in Marietta with her family. She is a wife and mother, and her daughter, Emma Louise, is a pre-vet student at UGA. At home, she has Sphynx cats and Labradors and enjoys reading, Mahjong, and time outdoors
She practiced for eight years in the Kennesaw and Marietta area before she realized that a family-focused, small-animal hospital was needed. She decided to make that a reality and opened Kennesaw Mountain Animal Hospital in 2010. With particular interests in internal medicine, oncology, soft tissue surgery, cardiology, and pain management, she has brought to life a premiere stress-free, family-focused practice through compassion, knowledge, and consistency.
