Take Your Cattitude to Work

June 22nd is Take Your Cat To Work Day! However, our feline friends aren’t good fits for every industry. If you work at home, or in a small office or bookstore, Fluffy may enjoy spending the day napping on your desk. If you work in construction, you’re probably better off leaving the furball at home. But even if you can’t bring your pet to work with you, you can still benefit from some kitty philosophy. Here, a Marietta, GA vet lists some ways to take your pet’s cattitude to work with you.

Get Lots of Sleep

We all know what Fluffy’s number one rule is: get lots of sleep. Kitties can sleep up to 20 hours a day! While you probably don’t need quite that much shuteye, it is important to get lots of rest.

Look Your Best

Kitties can spend hours every day carefully cleaning themselves, and making sure their fur looks soft and shiny. Take time with your appearance, and go to work neat and well-groomed.

Be Curious

When we advise you to be curious, we aren’t suggesting that you snoop through your coworkers’ things or listen in on conversations. (To be fair, cats would probably do both of those things if they could.) But you may benefit from exploring different avenues and careers, or even learning more about other departments.

Have Fun

No matter what industry you’re in, it’s important to enjoy what you do. Fluffy could probably amuse herself at work by knocking things off people’s desks, eating the office plants, or batting at your computer wires. Needless to say, these activities probably won’t go over well with your boss. Just remember to have fun, both on the job (when possible) and off.

Eat Well

Cats can be quite finicky little furballs. Fluffy may turn up her nose at a pet food or snack she doesn’t like. There is a good reason for this: in the wild, kitties eat their prey fresh, and will avoid anything that smells even slightly off. Eat a good, nourishing diet.

Be Confident

If there’s one thing cats excel at—aside from napping and being adorable—it would be looking smug. You don’t need to be quite as self-satisfied as Fluffy, but it is important to take pride in yourself and your work!
