New Year’s Resolutions Inspired by Cats

Happy New Year! As we leave 2018 behind and head into 2019, many people are making new resolutions for themselves. Your cat will be closely supervising you as you strive to meet your new goals. Actually, your kitty may also be able to help in other ways, even if it’s just by providing inspiration. Read on as a Marietta, GA vet lists some resolutions you can borrow from Fluffy.

Get Lots of Sleep

If cats had a golden rule, it would probably be to get plenty of sleep. Fluffy can sleep up to 20 hours a day! While you probably don’t need as much rest as your kitty, it is important to make sure you’re getting enough rest.

Look Your Best

Kitties take their beauty regimes very seriously. Fluffy may spend hours grooming herself every day. You don’t need to go quite that far, but you should take enough time to look well-groomed. You’ll both look and feel better!

Show Your Affection

Cats make purrfect cuddle buddies. Fluffy just happens to fit right into our laps, and also likes to be held. Even more reserved cats tend to show their humans affection in some way, whether it’s by following them around, meowing at them, or just quietly hanging out near them. Show your loved ones that you care about them!

Stretch Regularly

Did you know that stretching increases flexibility, reduces stress, and helps ease tension? No wonder kitties love to stretch! Why not try yoga this year? (Note: Fluffy isn’t always the most helpful yoga partner. Actually, she may try to sleep on top of you as you’re doing your routine. However, that’s another topic.) If your furball needs a scratching post, get her one that is tall enough so that she can stretch out to her full length as she’s doing her nails.

Stay Active

Cats are very playful and active as kittens. Actually, that’s a bit of an understatement: baby cats are extremely frisky! Your kitty will slow down as she ages, however. Tempt Fluffy into staying fit by playing with her regularly and offering her furniture that encourages her to stay active. You’ll also be more likely to continue your workouts if you do something you enjoy.
