National Dog Day

Did you know that August 26th is National Dog Day? Fido definitely deserves a special day of his own. After all, dogs have really earned their title of Man’s Best Friend! Read on as a Marietta, GA vet lists some great ways to get Fido’s furry tail wagging on his special day.

Nothing is guaranteed to brighten up Fido’s day like the thought of a yummy treat! Pamper your pooch with some doggy ice cream, which you can find in most pets stores. You can also give your pup some plain, cooked boneless meat, chicken, or fish.

Fun Outings

Let your canine pal enjoy a change of scenery by taking him to a park, or maybe trying out a new trail. Being able to sniff new patches of grass will give Fido beneficial mental stimulation. It will be good for you, too!

Toys are very important to your furry friend’s health and well-being! Pick up a few new things for your pooch, and take time to play with him. Snap some cute pictures of Fido playing with his new toys!

Spa/Salon Day

While baths may not be your pup’s favorite thing, he will definitely enjoy feeling fresh and clean afterwards. Take Fido to the groomers. If you prefer to wash your furry pal at home, treat him to a doggy massage.

New Stuff!

Take a look at Fido’s things, and see if anything could be added or replaced. Maybe Fido could use a new bed, or a different leash or collar. A new doghouse is also a great gift! You can also pamper your canine buddy with a kiddie pool or sandbox.

Puppy Play Date

Invite a few friends with gentle, well-behaved dogs over for a puppy party. Set out lots of doggy toys, and offer your four-legged buddies treats and belly rubs. Just make sure Fido’s pals are fixed and current on their vaccinations and parasite control products.

You are the apple of your pet’s eye, and the center of his universe. Spend some quality time with Fido. Play with him, talk to him, or teach him a new trick. Be sure to offer plenty of belly rubs and ear scritches. A dog’s love is unconditional and unwavering, and is truly something to cherish!
