Entertaining Fluffy

Did you know that cats can get bored? Boredom may not seem like much of a problem for our feline pals: after all, Fluffy does enjoy doing as little as possible. However, making sure your cute pet has entertainment options to enjoy when she is awake is very important! Read on as a Marietta, GA vet discusses keeping your kitty entertained.

Toys

Make sure your cat has plenty of toys to play with. Cats all have their own purrsonal opinions about toys. Some kitties like wand toys, while others prefer catnip mice. Of course, some of our feline friends love playing with crumpled up pieces of paper, or bottle caps. Fluffy has a habit of pushing her playthings under couches, so check beneath your sofa regularly.

Birdwatching

Offer Fluffy a comfy spot before a window, so she can watch what’s going on outside. Kitties love spying on birds and other local wildlife!

Furniture

Fluffy will definitely benefit from having some cat furniture to explore and nap on. Cat towers are great, because they encourage climbing and jumping, which help keep kitties active. Pet tents, kitty tipis, and wall-mounted furniture are also good options.

Playtime

Take a few minutes a day to play with your feline buddy. This is great for your cat, both physically and mentally. It will probably put a smile on your face, too: it’s hard not to giggle when watching a frisky furball pounce and jump. Play sessions are also a great way for you to bond with your cat. Fluffy may very well jump into your lap for some cuddles after playtime is over!

DVDs

Did you know that you can get DVDs made just for Fluffy? Some kitties really enjoy watching documentaries about birds and squirrels. You can also download some apps for your furry pal to play on your phone or tablet.

Tips:

Cats also sometimes amuse themselves. For instance, Fluffy may think it’s great fun to dash out in front of you as you are walking, and see how close she can get to you without accidentally getting kicked. Kitties also like to entertain themselves by knocking small objects off coffee tables, and sprinting from one room to another at top furball speed.
